An 18-year-old suspect is facing a charge of attempted murder following a stabbing incident on Sunday (9 October).

According to local police spokesperson Captain Marko Heydenrych the suspect was arrested after stabbing the victim with a sharp object in his face and left leg before running away from the scene.

The incident occurred at approximately 15:20 in Essenhout Street, Kalbaskraal, Malmesbury following an argument between the suspect and victim.

The police followed-up on information on the whereabouts of the suspect and was arrested within hours of the incident and charged with attempted murder.

The suspect appeared in the Malmesbury Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 12 October.
