Swartland resident are invited to enjoy an afternoon of creativity and community spirit when the West Coast Art Exhibition and NSRI Station 34 Charity Art Auction takes place at Strandkombuis in Yzerfontein on Saturday, 24 October.
Hosted by Marmi Art and the West Coast Art Competition, the event will bring together local talent and established South African artists for a celebration of art with a meaningful purpose: supporting the lifesaving work of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Station 34.
The exhibition will showcase works by participating competition artists, established South African artists and the late internationally recognised artist Herman van Nazareth. Whether you are an art lover, an enthusiast or a supporter of the NSRI, visitors can look forward to a diverse collection of artworks, offering an opportunity to appreciate South African artistic talent while contributing to a worthy cause.
A special highlight of the charity auction will be a sculpture generously donated by renowned South African sculptor André Prinsloo, best known for his statue of Nelson Mandela in front of the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
Proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting NSRI Station 34 and its dedicated volunteers, who respond to emergencies and assist people in distress along the coastline. The initiative offers art enthusiasts and community members an opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the safety of those who live, work and spend time along the West Coast.
The afternoon promises to combine the appreciation of fine art with good food and a shared commitment to the local community. The event starts at 14:00, with tickets priced at R350 per person, including a harvest table. Tickets can be purchased through Quicket.
Whether attending to discover exceptional art, support artists or contribute to the vital work of local sea rescue volunteers, visitors can look forward to an afternoon where art makes a difference.
