The Zolani e-centre (Cape Access), in collaboration with the Zolani Library in Ashton, hosted a speech competition on 28 October. It was held to give students the opportunity to improve their speaking abilities, self-confidence, skills in research, critical thinking, organisational skills, persuasion and communication. The organisers worked with four schools, three in the Langeberg region, mainly Ashton Public Combined School, Ashton Secondary School and Masakheke High School and one from the Overberg, Swellendam High School. This will not be the last collaboration between the library and e-centre particularly on engaging with schools as often as possible. At the Zolani e-centre services such as Basic ICT skills, Access to government services and information, access to online services, jobs, among others are offered. The winners of the competition are Linomso Tatilana (first place), Asisipho Mbawu (second place) and Celia Kaport (third place).
