This remarkable group of young talents, under the masterful guidance of conductor and founder Odwa Mvunge, recently took centre stage in Cape Town, leaving the audience spellbound and inspired.
Their journey is a real fairytale story, where a small town has become a beacon of hope and opportunity for its youth through the power of music. The Zolani Youth Choir, a testament to the resilience and talent of Ashton’s young generation, has been nurtured and supported by the Choral Celebration Network Foundation (CCNF) since its inception.
Recently, as part of the CCNF festival series, the Zolani Youth Choir took to the stage and left everyone in awe. Zolani was the last to perform for the night and had the audience on their feet. The performance resonated deeply with the audience as they witnessed the choir’s inspiring spirit and the sheer magic of their music. These talented individuals had faced personal hardships recently, but their unwavering determination and love for their craft propelled them forward. They practised relentlessly, united in their pursuit of excellence.
CCNF, recognising the choir’s incredible potential, took a chance to showcase them a couple of years ago. Their decision proved to be a stroke of brilliance, as the Zolani Youth Choir has since been invited to two more prestigious festivals, capturing the hearts of audiences wherever they perform. Their growth is nothing short of phenomenal, a testament to their grit, commitment, and sheer talent. Ashton can be immensely proud of their choir, a true representation of the town’s spirit and resilience.
