On Wednesday, 17 June, St Andrew’s College had the privilege of welcoming Dale College for an exciting afternoon of debating. The boys showcased the talents of both Junior and Senior teams.
The Junior team included Jude Kaplan, Robert Hoole, and Jake Hood. They debated the motion: “This House believes that sports organisations should have the power to punish athletes for conduct outside of sports.” Arguing as a proposition, they delivered a compelling and well‑structured case to secure victory. Jude Kaplan’s outstanding performance earned him the Best Speaker award.
The Senior team, comprised Noah Stowe, Jeremy Allen, and Qhamani Nomtshongwana. They tackled the motion: “This House believes that professional sports clubs should not be allowed to contract underage players to their teams.” Also debating as Proposition, the team impressed with persuasive arguments and excellent teamwork, claiming another win for the College. Noah Stowe was recognised as Best Speaker for his exceptional contribution.
Congratulations to all the debaters on their success. St Andrew’s extends heartfelt thanks to Dale College for making the trip and contributing to a highly competitive and enjoyable afternoon of debating.
