Graaff‑Reinet. Union High School proudly celebrates the achievements of nine of its swimmers who competed in Gqeberha on Saturday, 24 October. The event delivered both podium success and inspiring personal progress in the pool.
Daniel Davenport led the charge with a remarkable performance in the boys’ U14 category. He secured four first‑place finishes in the 50m butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. He also improved his times in all four events.
Esethu Mabula also excelled, claiming gold in the girls’ 15‑and‑over breaststroke, silver in butterfly and bronze in backstroke. Taylor Jacobs added to the medal tally with second place in backstroke and third in freestyle in the U14 division, alongside a strong fourth in butterfly.
Beyond the podium, several swimmers achieved personal milestones. Catie Davenport improved her times in three events, Angelique Kyanda‑Kaboza recorded progress in backstroke and breaststroke while securing two fourth‑place finishes, and Kate Scott shaved valuable seconds off her breaststroke and freestyle. Lilly Hunter, Grace Kitching and Lisa McEwan gained valuable competitive experience, representing Union with determination and spirit.
Swimming is as much about personal growth as it is about medals, and Union High is proud to see so many of its athletes making strides in both. Congratulations to all our swimmers on their dedication and success.
