Union High School, Graaff‑Reinet’s Top 6 boys’ and girls’ junior tennis players travelled to Cradock from 26 to 29 August to compete in the annual CLS Spar Tennis Tournament. This year’s event was the biggest in its history, featuring 12 boys’ teams and 12 girls’ teams from leading schools across the region.
Fierce Competition Against Top Schools
Over three days of spirited tennis, Union’s players faced strong opposition from schools including Stirling, Summerwood, Volkskool, Fichardtpark, DSG, Clarendon Park and Selborne College
Boys Show Heart, Girls Shine in Top Four
Union’s boys’ team competed with determination in a particularly competitive section, representing the school with pride and resilience. The girls’ team delivered an excellent performance, securing 4th place overall out of 12 teams. Along the way, they recorded notable victories, finishing ahead of strong sides such as DSG, Volkskool, Jeffreys Bay and Clarendon Park.
A Proud Achievement
This tournament provided Union’s young tennis players with a valuable opportunity to test themselves against some of the best junior talent in the country. Their results reflect both skill and spirit, marking a wonderful achievement for the school.
