When 2 400 of Southern Africa’s brightest young geographers from 154 schools compete for top honours, earning a place among the very best is no small feat. That’s exactly what the incredible Curro St Dominics Newcastle learners have achieved, and we couldn’t be prouder!
A huge congratulations to every learner who took on the challenge of the 2026 Senior Southern African National Geography Olympiad. Simply participating in a competition of this calibre is an achievement in itself, and every learner represented St Dom’s with curiosity, determination, and pride.
Platinum Award Achievers
- Abu Baqr Jamaloodeen – Placed in the top 1% across Southern Africa, finished joint 10th overall, and was crowned the top Geography Olympiad learner in KwaZulu-Natal.
- Nawailah Ismail – also placed in the top 1% across Southern Africa, earning a prestigious Platinum Award.
These achievements are the result of countless hours of learning, perseverance, curiosity, and the courage to challenge themselves against some of the very best.
