The St Charles College learners from the Environment Council recently embarked on an inspiring visit to the Tala Raptor Centre. There, they discovered the vital role birds of prey play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

From meeting rescued raptors and testing their knowledge in a vulture identification quiz to witnessing an awe‑inspiring flight display. The boys gained valuable insight into the conservation challenges these remarkable species face. A highlight of the day was observing vultures being fed and learning about the centre’s conservation breeding programme.

Adding to the excitement, St Charles College boys had the privilege of sponsoring two recently rescued Pygmy Falcons, affectionately naming them Bonnie and Clyde. The experience concluded with a fascinating hands‑on snake demonstration, leaving the learners with a deeper appreciation for South Africa’s extraordinary wildlife.

It was truly an unforgettable day of learning, conservation, and connection with nature.
