It is a St Andrew’s tradition that we burn a wooden stick on Ash Wednesday. On this stick, we write all the things that hold us back: pain, fears and worries, and sin that separates us from God and from one another. It is an action that is also a prayer, allowing everyone the experience of renewal and the light of hope.
