In the opening fixture of the Churchie Rugby Festival, College faced St Andrew’s College from Christchurch, New Zealand. It was a clash marked by intensity and tradition.

Early defensive lapses and unforced errors led to College conceding multiple tries before halftime. On the other hand, the opposition carried strong momentum into the break.

The second half, however, revealed the true spirit of the College side. Refusing to surrender, the boys played with resilience, determination, and pride. Though the scoreboard read 14–64, their improved performance and refusal to give up were commendable.

A memorable highlight was the traditional haka performed by St Andrew’s before kickoff — a moment of respect and cultural significance that enriched the occasion.

Despite the result, the team can take pride in their character and fighting spirit, qualities that will serve them well as the festival continues.
