Van Aarde’s Masterclass
Head boy and 1st XI Captain, Reuben van Aarde, scored a magnificent century against Kingswood College today in the 1st XI’s Cape Schools encounter in Makhanda.
After a washed-out second day of the festival, the 1st XI posted 268-4 in their allotted first innings 40-overs. Reuben van Aarde batted the entire innings as an opener to score 113 not out. He was well supported by Berno Coetsee’s 55 and Harbin Smith’s 56 off 22 balls towards the death.
Unfortunately during the innings break, a heavy shower of rain abandoned the match, making the conditions unplayable for the second innings.
