Paarl Girls’ High School’s chess teams delivered an exceptional showing at the Cape Winelands Top Schools Chess Tournament – First Round, hosted at Rhenish High School in Stellenbosch.
Both the u.11 and u.15 teams faced six demanding rounds against some of the district’s strongest schools, rising to the challenge with determination, skill, and teamwork.
U11 Team – Gold Medal Winners
Paarl Girls’ U11 girls impressed throughout the tournament, earning the gold medal and securing their place in the second round on 5–6 September 2026. Their resilience and sharp play were a highlight of the competition.
U15 Team – Undefeated Champions
The u.15 team was simply unstoppable. With a flawless 6–0 score, they emerged as the undefeated team of the tournament. Their focus, discipline, and outstanding chess ability carried them to victory. They now advance to the next round on 29–30 August 2026.
