Kearsney 1st XV end season in style against St Albans

Kearsney welcomed St Albans from Pretoria to Botha’s Hill for the final fixture of the 2026 season. Kearsney delivered a dazzling attacking performance to secure a commanding 94–10 victory.

The 1st XV certainly wasted no time in setting the tone. A powerful driving maul saw captain Nhlanhla Ndlovu crash over for the opening try, converted by Daniel Miskey. Minutes later, vice-captain Fynn Verbaan’s superb take under the high ball created space for Ndlovu to sprint clear for his second.

Momentum surged as Miskey’s incisive line break launched a sweeping counterattack, finished by hooker Luke Faure under the posts. Soon after, a slick lineout move allowed Keanu Williamson to glide through for another converted score. Confidence brimming, Kearsney struck again straight from the restart, with Luke Grobbelaar crossing under the poles.

St Albans responded with a well-executed driving maul, their scrumhalf sniping over for their first points. Yet Kearsney had the final word of the half: Verbaan’s quick tap sparked a series of powerful carries before Miskey released Grobbelaar for his second. The hosts led 40–5 at the break.

The second half mirrored the first, with Kearsney’s pace, ambition, and accuracy overwhelming the visitors. Eight more tries followed, with Ndlovu (2), Thomas Aylward (2), Thomas Franke, Tunga Griffiths, Daniel Hunwick, and Verbaan all adding their names to the scoresheet. St Albans managed one further try, but the day belonged to the home side.

A resounding 94–10 triumph was a fitting finale to Kearsney’s 2026 campaign. Their attacking flair and relentless intensity provided a thrilling spectacle for the Botha’s Hill faithful and a memorable conclusion to the season.
