Roodepoort, Gauteng – Curro Wilgeheuwel High School will host the voices of 326 young South Africans at the second edition of the Ke Nako! Festival of Voices takes centre stage during Heritage Month.

This year’s festival, themed “Intsha Inamandla” (Youth is Powerful), brings together learners from 12 Curro schools across Gauteng for an evening of music, culture and storytelling. More than a concert, Ke Nako! Festival of Voices is a platform for young people to share their perspectives and experiences through song, weaving together a collective expression of identity, resilience and hope.

Executive Head Lisa Dowds leads this year’s expanded vision, moving the festival outdoors to create a vibrant, family‑friendly atmosphere. “It’s about opening the doors wider,” says Dowds. “Families can relax and experience something distinctly South African. Each school performs twice, giving every learner more space to be heard and celebrated.”

Performances will feature a mix of traditional and contemporary South African songs, culminating in a powerful closing anthem sung by all 326 learners together — a moment of unity that embodies the festival’s spirit.

Ke Nako! distinguishes itself by prioritising expression over competition. Voices flow together like streams forming a river, celebrating diversity as the true strength of South Africa’s youth.

Dowds concludes: “We want audiences to leave inspired, filled with hope, and proud of the culture, vibrancy and energy our young people carry.”
