Semifinal Triumph
In a spectacular Men’s U19 semifinal, Joe faced Western Province teammate and former National #2 Thomas Boutall. After dropping a tight second game, Joe fought back relentlessly to seal a monumental 3–1 victory (11‑4, 9‑11, 12‑10, 11‑9)—his first win over Boutall at Nationals.
Final Showdown
Joe also advanced to a thrilling five‑set national final against reigning National #1 Juan‑Corné Brand. On the glass court, he delivered an electrifying performance. He took two crucial games off a rival he had never previously challenged. Despite a narrow defeat, Joe pushed the top seed to a dramatic five‑set thriller (3‑11, 12‑10, 12‑10, 10‑12, 11‑6)—a milestone achievement in his career.
