St Andrew’s College, Makhanda, proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of swimmer Ilyo Copteros, whose recent performances at two major galas have highlighted his growing strength and commitment in the pool.
At the Eastern Cape Aquatics Short Course Championship Gala on Saturday, 8 August 2026, Ilyo impressed in his age group, securing four medals:
- Silver – 50m Butterfly
- Bronze – 200m Freestyle
- Bronze – 100m Butterfly
- Bronze – 200m Freestyle Relay
Building on this success, Ilyo Copteros continued his momentum at the BEST Gala on Saturday, 5 September 2026, where he delivered another remarkable performance, earning four medals:
- Gold – 100m Butterfly
- Gold – 200m Freestyle
- Gold – 100m Backstroke
- Bronze – 100m Freestyle
These results reflect Ilyo’s steady improvement, discipline, and determination, marking him as one of St Andrew’s College’s rising swimming talents. His medal haul across both competitions demonstrates not only his versatility across strokes but also his relentless pursuit of excellence.
