Grey College Primary is proud to announce that Jayden Pagel (gr 5) has been awarded Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) Free State Provincial Colours. This follows his outstanding performance at the 2026 MASA National Championship in Pretoria.

Representing Seijin Karate Club, Jayden competed in multiple categories, including traditional kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). His skill and discipline earned him silver and bronze medals, a remarkable achievement for an 11-year-old karateka at national level.

SASCOC recognises MASA as the governing body for non-Olympic martial arts in South Africa. MASA awards provincial colours to athletes who demonstrate excellence, commitment, and sportsmanship. Jayden’s success places him among the province’s most promising young martial artists.

The Seijin Karate Club, under the guidance of Sensei Richard Lawrence (4th Dan), emphasises traditional Shorin-Ryu karate and kobudo, instilling values of respect, discipline, and perseverance. Jayden’s achievement reflects not only his dedication but also the strong family and school support behind him.
