Sassa has moved November grant payment dates forward to avoid the Local Government Elections on 4 November.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will pay November 2026 social grants early to avoid clashing with the Local Government Elections on 4 November.

Older persons will receive their grants first, starting on Friday, 30 October. Sassa will then pay disability grants on Monday, 2 November, followed by child grants on Tuesday, 3 November.

The agency has set aside Thursday, 5 November, for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

Sassa worked with several stakeholders to adjust the payment schedule. The agency wanted to make sure grant payments continue smoothly during the election period. National Treasury gave the green light for the new dates.

“Sassa remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner,” the agency said.

The revised schedule affects millions of South Africans who rely on social grants to survive. By moving the payment dates forward, Sassa aims to prevent confusion on election day and ensure beneficiaries can collect their money without disruption.

The agency warned beneficiaries not to rush to Sassa offices unnecessarily. Payments will go through according to the announced schedule, whether beneficiaries use bank accounts, the Post Office or retail outlets.

Sassa also urged grant recipients whose payments are under review to respond to official letters and attend appointments when asked. Failing to do so could delay or stop grant payments.

The agency advised beneficiaries to use only official Sassa communication channels for information. This will help them avoid falling for false rumours or scams about social grants.

Sassa said the new arrangements protect the social assistance system while making sure millions of South Africans continue getting the support they need.
