GQEBERHA – Drugs valued at R2 million were seized by Mount Road SAPS members, marking a significant drug bust yesterday, 8 April at approximately 20:29 in Woodpecker Street, Cotswold, Gqeberha.

According to SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana, whilst conducting routine patrols in the area, SAPS members were flagged down by a private security company who had searched a male foreign national and allegedly found drugs in his possession.

“The suspect had reportedly been at a storage locker when his suspicious behaviour triggered an alarm, prompting a response from the security company,” she said. “Upon noticing the arrival of SAPS members, the suspect dropped a black plastic bag and fled the scene by jumping over a high wall.”

She added that the suspect remains at large.

“The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is approximately R2 million,” she said, adding that no arrests have been made at this stage.

“Investigations are ongoing to locate the suspect,” she concluded.
