GAUTENG – A second suspect linked to the brutal murder of Monicca Dube, a prominent member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), is scheduled to make his first appearance in the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court on today, Wednesday, 7 October.
The 39-year-old male suspect was apprehended on Tuesday evening by the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
According to an official statement released by the South African police, investigators positively identified and located the man following a highly coordinated, intelligence-driven operation. He now faces a formal charge of murder.

The victim, Monicca Dube, 44, was the former EFF Tshwane Region 2 Secretary.
She was tragically shot and killed in front of her family members on 13 June at her residential home located in Wallmansthal.
This was the second attempt on Dube’s life this year.

In March, she survived an attack in which she was shot 11 times and spent several weeks in intensive care recovering from her injuries.
The nature of the attack prompted intensive oversight from specialised political investigative units.
This latest breakthrough follows the previous arrest of the first suspect, Sipho Mahlangu, who was taken into custody by law enforcement back in July this year.
Mahlangu has already made several subsequent appearances before the same Cullinan Magistrate’s Court.
He remains remanded in police custody as criminal proceedings move forward.
The SAPS political task team continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
