GQEBERHA – SAPS Kwadwesi detectives are appealing to the public for assistance in tracing suspects involved in a double murder at a residence in Zanezwe Street, Kwadwesi Extension.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 29 March, at approximately 02:19.

According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, officers responded to a complaint and, on arrival, discovered two men inside the house with gunshot wounds to the head.

One of the deceased has been identified as Sibusiso Lukhalo (22), while the second victim remains unidentified and is estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were inside the house allegedly consuming alcohol when unknown suspects attempted to gain entry by kicking in the back door. When this failed, they allegedly forced open the front door.

Two armed suspects, wearing balaclavas and masks, entered the premises.

“One of the victims attempted to flee but was shot before he could escape. The suspects then demanded firearms and money,” said Janse van Rensburg. “When the second victim indicated that they had neither, he was also fatally shot in the lounge.”

The suspects fled the scene with four cellphones and a 32-inch plasma television. They are believed to have left in a silver SUV.
