VOLCANO Ladies’ Football Club’s newly signed player, Sinazo Zinto, revealed that one day she would like to play at professional level so that she can give her family a better life.
Zinto, who is known as “Snara” by the fans, stated that she started playing soccer on the dusty streets of KwaNobuhle in 2010.
She said that she decided to play football at Magqabi Primary School in 2012.
Zinto said, “I could see that I could play football (well). Then I decided to join Manchester Babes LFC, who campaigned in the Sasol Ladies’ League.
“As time went on, our club closed down. I did not want stop playing football, so I joined Nobuhle Ladies’ FC in 2016. While I was still a member of Nobuhle Ladies’ FC, Volcano chairperson and head coach, Mzuvukile Khesi, approached me, saying he would like me to join his side.”
When Zinto’s side took on Volcano LFC during their SAFA NMB Women’s Regional League, she worked her socks off.
Zinto was very pleased with the way in which Khesi’s side played. She said that Volcano played an interesting style of football and they showed high levels of discipline on and off the field of play.
“I was attracted by their style of playing football and I told myself that I would fit into their team. I am a right-footed defender,” said Zinto.
Zinto has been through a tough time personally, as her mother passed away recently. Zinto explained, “It was a very difficult moment in my life when my mom passed away in December 2020. She was very supportive to us as the family. We are a family of eight, only one of whom is employed.
“My dream is to turn professional one day so that I would be able to (give my family a better life). When the Sasol League resumes, I will work very hard so that I can realise my dream.”
Zinto was a Grade 12 learner at Sisonke Secondary in Uitenhage in 2020. She said that she would like to register at a higher learning institution this year but is not in a financial position to do so.
