YOUNG Madrid FC won Shining Stars Preseason Annual Tournament after they overcame FC Motherwell 3-0 during the finals that took place in Motherwell NU 13 Ground on Sunday.
Madrid’s road to the finals came after their 2-1 triumph over Amabhubezi FC in their semi-final. Amabhayinari, as FC Motherwell are popularly known, defeated Shining Stars 2-0 in their semi-final.
Madrid looked unstoppable as they registered a first half 1-0 lead with Amabhayinari’s defenders under pressure.
In the second half, Madrid added two more goals that gave them a well-deserved 3-0 victory.
Madrid went home with the first prize of R2 000 and a ball, while Amabhayinari settled for runners-up prize of R800 and a ball.
Earlier on, the u/13 and u/15 finals were played.
Shining Stars defeated Amabhubezi 2-1 during their u/13 finals, while Channel Porto beat FC Angels 1–0 during the u/15 finals.
The junior winners received a trophy, gold medals and a ball each while the runners-up went home with silver medals and a ball each.
