NTLANTLA Swana, a 22-year-old BMUS (music technology) student at Nelson Mandela University, will be introducing herself as a solo artist during her debut show at The Barn, PE Opera House, on May 23 from 18:00.
Swana is originally from East London and started singing when she was only seven years old.
“My vision is to positively impact on the Eastern Cape music industry and the country as a whole.
“The need for vibrant young visionaries in the industry has been identified and I wish to fill that gap,” she said.
After a varied music career, she recently joined the popular a capella group, Legato, as their new lead singer.
During the show on May 23, she will be working with the likes of the legendary Lawrence Matshiza and Mthokozisi Mabuza. The concept of the concert is “Stepping Stone”.
“A stepping stone is an action or event that helps one to make progress towards a specified goal.
“Now, I have found this fit for my first ever solo concert as there is a bigger goal in mind, which this concert works towards achieving,” Swana said.
The concert will be a mix of jazz and afro soul music, with a couple of contemporary gospel songs.
Tickets to the show are R100 per person.
