The woman who allegedly set an Eagle Liner bus alight after a dispute with the bus company two weeks ago, is still at large.
According to information from SAPS in Gqeberha, the woman allegedly had a dispute with staff of the bus company over a lost cellphone. “The female suspect has been identified as a woman in her early 30’s from Centane, Eastern Cape. Her name has been withheld,” Captain Andre Beetge of SAPS said. The investigating officer of this case is still tracing the suspect as she could not be found at the usual places where she lives or visits.
The woman allegedly threatened to burn one of the buses. She then left the offices of the bus company and set a bus parked outside the bus depot alight. She fled the scene afterward. The bus burnt out completely and caused fire damage to a second bus that was parked next to it.
Beetge further said that the damage caused by the fire to the busses is estimated to be R3.2 million. “The investigating officer of this case is still tracing the suspect as she is not in the usual places where she lives or visits,” he added.
Beetge said,
This is a developing story.
