A woman that was kidnapped from her shop in Zwide on Sunday afternoon, has been found unharmed.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, said that the woman was found last night, March 27.
She said that according to the victim, she was blindfolded and taken to a roofless, deserted house in Mbeki Street, Ezinyoka.
“Her hands were tied with cable ties. Yesterday evening she managed to untie herself and jumped over the wall to the neighbourhood for assistance. Her family and friends were called. Police investigations are ongoing. No ransom was paid,” she said.
According to Netwerk24, the 40-year-old victim, her husband and approximately six employees were working at Broadway Supermarket when two unknown armed men stormed into the shop. A shot was fired but no one injured. The victim was then forced into a VW Polo before the suspects fled with her in the car.
According to a reliable source, who was at the scene when the victim was found, she was found in Mbeki Street.
“She was unharmed and did not want to go to hospital,” the source said.
This kidnapping follows less than two weeks after Nelson Mandela Bay biokineticist, Riana Pretorius, was kidnapped on March 16 and a ransom of R2 million demanded.
Pretorius was returned safely to her family on March 24, the same day that a suspect, Xolisile Rawutini, appeared in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court for her kidnapping.
