Tenneco FC leads the way in the NMB Industrial Football Association League

TENNECO FC is still on top of the Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) Industrial Football Association League log table.

So far, Tenneco have collected 49 league points without losing and drawing only once in their 17 games. Their arch-rivals Continental accumulated 43 league points, with one draw and no loss in their 15 games. Tenneco defeated the gutsy Eberspacher 2–1 during their scintillating game at Dana Grounds in Kariega on Sunday. On the other side, Continental thwarted Kanu 3–0 at Jubilee Fields in Kariega on Sunday.

Aspen won on soft points after CRH Africa failed to pitch up for their game at Jubilee Fields. Forvia Port Elizabeth were thrashed 5–0 by Heineken Distell at Jubilee Fields. Durr Africa snatched a narrow 4–3 win from Coega Dairy at Jubilee Fields as well.

Hi-Tech Auto registered an easy 8–2 triumph on Shatterprufe Neave, while Fomoco Ford overcame Coega Dairy 4–0 at Shatterprufe Grounds in Struandale. Shatterprufe Struandale went down 4–2 to Sasko at their home ground, the Shatterprufe Grounds in Struandale.

Dana Spicer registered a 2–1 victory over Benteler at Dana Grounds. Despite their 5–3 loss, Adient PPC gave a good account of themselves when they took on Borbet at Dana Grounds on Sunday.

PEEFA Kasi Delivery Tournament produce thrills and spills

HUNDREDS of spectators were excited during the Port Elizabeth East Football Association (PEEFA) Kasi Delivery Tournament quarter finals that produced thrills and spills at Veeplaas Turf Stadium on Sunday.

The hot favourites, Young Aces, booked themselves a berth in the semi-finals after they eliminated the tough Bay Tigers 2–1. United Brothers were frustrated by Mighty Warriors who knocked them out of the tournament 3–0.

Young Teenagers was taken to the cleaners by Mwalimu All Stars, who thumped Amachina 5–0 in their one-sided clash. Peace Lovers and Real Lions ended in a stalemate, but Lovers managed to advance to the semi-finals by winning the game 5–4 on penalties.

Fans will watch what will be described as a final before a final, when Young Aces lock horns with Mwalimu All Stars in the semi-finals. The second semi-final that will definitely steal the show, will be the clash between Mighty Warriors and Peace Lovers. Both games will take place at Veeplaas Turf Stadium on Heritage Day.

Shining Stars rise to the occasion

SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Hollywoodbets Regional League newcomers, Shining Stars FC, rose to the occasion when they registered their first league 2–0 away win over EC Celtics FC at Khayamnandi Community Fields in Despatch on Saturday.

Stars showed they have what it takes to defeat the SAFA NMB Hollywoodbets Regional League powerhouse in front of their cheering supporters. The Motherwell outfit registered their first league goal courtesy of Akhona Jakuja. Tshepo Mokhosi scored Stars’ last goal to guide his side to a well-deserved victory.

Other newcomers, Young Aces, also started the league on a good note, as they managed to snatch their 2–1 away win over Dynamos at Dynamos on Saturday. Aces took a 1–0 lead for the entire first half, following a top-notch goal scored by their prolific striker Lwande Mbaxa.

Dynamos were on level terms after Xolela Gqomoshe scored their goal from the penalty spot. Mbaxa’s winning goal cut short the joy of Dynamos supporters, and Aces claimed a hard-fought 2–1 win in their first league encounter.

Other newcomers, Real Celtics, shared the 1–1 draw with Red Lions during their away game that took place at Chevrolet Stadium in Struandale on Saturday. The reigning league champions, Old Grey FC (OGFC), had to sweat for their 1–0 victory over Real Madrid FC at SAPS Kemsley Park in Mount Croix on Sunday. OGFC goalkeeper, Zamikhaya Bibo Yokwe, was the man of the match as he pulled more brilliant saves.
