Helenvale United FC defends inter-club Youth Tournament title
JOY was the order of the day for Helenvale United FC players, after they beat Mabayibone Strikers 2–0 during the Glenville Celtic AFC John Nance Inter-Club Youth Tournament u/17 finals at Gelvan Turf Field on Friday.
The tournament commenced with a round-robin format and ended in a knockout format, from Monday to Friday.
Ebhayi FC lifted the u/9 trophy after they cruised to a well-deserved 4–0 victory over Callies FC in their finals. Helenvale United FC was crowned the champions as they registered an emphatic 3–1 triumph over Fairview Rovers during their u/11 finals.
Ebhayi FC claimed a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Park United FC after they locked horns with each other in the u/13 finals. Future Stars Academy lifted the u/15 trophy as they won 6–5 on penalties over Glenville Celtic AFC.
Helenvale United FC defended their title successfully by defeating Mabayibone Strikers FC 2–0 during their u/17 finals. United captain, Jaydon Jennecker, scored a cracker midway through the second half, while Jason Ketteldas banged in the last goal that guided United to a 2–0 victory.
“We as Glenville would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors who made a huge difference to our children. Furthermore, we would also like to give thanks to our local organising committee, match officials, the teams, Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA), the parents and spectators for making our tournament a huge success,” said Glenville chairman, Victor Burton.

Young Aces overcome PEEFA Premier League champions United Brothers
YOUNG Aces managed to emerge triumphant after their hard-fought 2–0 win over PE East Football Association (PEEFA) Premier League champions United Brothers at Veeplaas Turf Stadium on Sunday.
Both goalkeepers had a busy afternoon as they pulled off some brilliant saves. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
Aces looked completely different in the second half as they launched many attacks on Brothers. It took Aces until the 67th minute to score their opening goal courtesy of their left wing, Liyema Dingiswayo.
Aces midfielder, Lwande, scored a beautiful goal in 78th minute. The game ended 2–0 in favour of Aces.
After playing 20 games with just two draws and without suffering a loss, Aces are on top of the PEEFA Premier League log table. Aces, who await the day of trophy presentation, are league champions. As things stand, Aces have 56 league points.
Shining Stars’ victory over Kuyasa
ZWIDE Football Association (ZWIFA) Premier League reigning champions, Shining Stars, claimed a hard-fought 1–0 victory over the log leaders, Kuyasa United Brothers, at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday.
The supporters of Khipu Major Chiefs Sports Club were down as their side suffered a huge 5–0 defeat to Strikers United at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday as well. Zwide Pirates faced a tough Mwalimu All Stars but Pirates claimed a late hard-fought 1–0 victory at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday.
Real Crusaders shared a 2–2 draw with Duka Cosmos at Shining Stars Ground on Saturday as well. Alaska played into a 1–1 draw against Everton F at Zwide Celtics on Sunday. Amadamara FC thwarted Sophakama FC 3–0 during their game at Zwide Celtics Grounds on Sunday.
Morning Stars collected three league points on soft-points from Umanyano Stars who failed to pitch up for their game at Zwide Celtics.
Young Brothers salvaged a 2–0 triumph from Gal City in their Emagaleni derby at Zwide Celtics Grounds on Sunday as well.

NAFA Fain Valentine Brink Cup games start with a big bang
DESPITE the chilly weather conditions, hundreds of football fans gathered on Sunday to watch Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA) Premier League Fain Valentine Brink Cup first round games.
The teams were divided into four groups, with the tournament starting in a round robin and ending in a knockout. In the Group A clash, Windvogel All Stars went down 2–1 on Apex United, while Saints FC succumbed 2–1 on Fairdene FC at Gelvan 1 Field.
Helenvale United started their Group B opening game on a high note, registering a hard 2–0 win on Stardrift at Gelvan 1 Field, while West Lake claimed a close 3–2 triumph from Rangers FC.
Bloom Callies lost 2–1 to Fairview Rovers at Gelvan 1 Fields. Despite their 2–1 loss, Glenville Celtic fought tooth and nail with Blackpool AFC.
Park United accumulated an easy 5–1 victory against Shamrocks during Group D clash at Gelvan Turf. Bloem Stars lost 2–1 to Hotspurs FC during Group D closely contest that took place at Gelvan Turf.
