Highbury FC are ABC Motsepe League national champions
NELSON Mandela Bay-based Highbury FC earned a historic 2–0 win over Mpumalanga’s Kruger United during the ABC Motsepe League National Play-offs final at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in Upington on Sunday.
Following a long-delayed final due to the FC Ravens and Sinenkani FC arbitration, Highbury FC defeated 2–0 Sinenkani FC in the provincial championship final.
Mzoxolo Mabhoyana Rafani guided the Nelson Mandela Bay side to overcome the Bloemfontein team Mangaung United 1–0 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Highbury shared a goalless draw with Thames. After collecting four points in their Group B match, Highbury booked themselves a place in the semi-finals.
In the semi-final, Highbury earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over KwaZulu-Natal lads Njampela FC. Tshepo and Tlhalefang Batsi scored apiece in the first and second halvesrespectively. Nqaba Xulu scored Njampela FC’s consolation goal in the last five minutes of the game.
Kruger United managed to claim a tough 1–0 win over Thames FC in the semi-final.
During the finals, Highbury FC’s Rafani scored the first goal of the game in the first half. In the second half, Rafani scored his second goal, sealing the victory in favour of Highbury FC. Rafani was voted as the top goal scorer.
“Loyalty is very important to us, and Port Elizabeth people have been loyal to us, giving us support and we will continue playing our Motsepe Foundation Championship League games in Port Elizabeth,” said chuffed Highbury chairman, Cameron Klopper.
All in all, Highbury and Kruger United are being promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship League.
Shining Stars are MOFA Premier League log leaders
SINCE the start of the season, Shining Stars FC have shown determination, resilience, and commitment, and have made it to the top of the Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) Premier League log.
Stars have, so far, collected 70 league points, while the second-placed Valencia have 64 league points. On Saturday, Stars claimed a narrow-margin 3–2 victory when they faced Motherwell School of Excellence at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium. Stars continued their winning ways as they collected a very demanding 2–1 victory over Tomorrow Stars at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Sunday.
The title contenders, Valencia, also won their two games, defeating Young Romans 3–2 on Saturday, and securing a 2–0 triumph against Motherwell School of Excellence at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday.
Lion City suffered a 1–0 loss to Young Ideas at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Saturday.
Bisho Stars went down 1–0 to FC Angels at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Saturday.
Royal Bucks registered a well-deserved 2–1 victory against Young Romans at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday.
In the battle of the neighbours, Young Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Channel Porto at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday as well.

Sport Event Management Youth Soccer Tournament a resounding success
SPORT Event Management Youth Soccer Tournament became a resounding success as hundreds of spectators converged at Top Ten Soccer Fields in Missionvale on Saturday.
The tournament organiser, Zolani Swelindawo, said proceedings went according to plan. Swelindawo highlighted that the motive behind hosting the tournament was to curb crime and keep the youth in sport and draw the community members to the fields.
“This tournament was a huge success, as young people and children actively participated in the tournament and it kept them extremely busy. Additionally, we have managed to bring some of the top local coaches, like Siyabulela Gwambi, Loyiso Sticks Ntombana (Bay Tigers), Greg Sias (Ebhayi FC), and Lwazi Sawula (Keep Active Sport Development). We would like to thank the sponsors, Aquelle Spring Water, PELFA, and Ebhayi FC, for their contribution and our tournament was a resounding success,”

FANS saw teams score many goals during their Nelson Mandela Bay Industrial Football League games on Sunday.
Durr Africa drubbed Adient 10–0 in a one-sided game at Jubilee Fields. CRH Africa succumbed 8–2 to Tenneco at Jubilee as well. Fomoco Ford suffered a huge 8–1 loss to log leaders Aspen, also at Jubilee Fields. Dana Spicer thumped Borbet 6–1 at Dana Fields in Kariega. Continental secured a well-deserved 3–1 win from Hi-Tech Auto at Dana Fields. BKB lost 3–1 to Willard Auto X at Jubilee Fields.
Eberspacher shared a 2–2 draw with Kanu at Jubilee Fields. Shatterprufe Neave beat Shatterprufe Struandale 3–2 at Struandale Grounds. Bentler dug deep to beat Heineken 4–3 at Struandale Grounds.
