Back to business for NMB Industrial Football Association League

The Nelson Mandela Bay Industrial Football Association League resumed their games on Sunday.

Despite a 2–1 loss, Benteler put up a good fight against Continental at Jubilee 1 Field in Kariega. Fomoco Ford suffered a huge 6–2 defeat to Borbet at Jubilee 1 Field. Tenneco registered an emphatic 6–0 triumph to Sasko, also at Jubilee 1 Field.

At Jubilee 2 Field, Conti-Tech failed to turn up for their match against Durr Africa who were then awarded soft points. CRH Africa registered an easy 3–1 win over Coega Dairy, while the unbeaten log leaders Aspen overcame Willard AutoX 2–1.

Only two games were played at Shatterprufe Grounds in Struandale, with BKB getting soft points from Shatterprufe Neave, who did not show up for their game.

Forvia Uitenhage shared a 1–1 draw with Heineken Distell. Dairy Group drubbed Shatterprufe Struandale 4–1.

Dana Spicer disappointed home supporters after they did not honour their match with Lemaitre at Dana. Hi-Tech accumulated three league points from a walkover, as Kanu failed to pitch up for their game. Forvia Port Elizabeth trounced Purem Eberspacher 7–3 in a one-sided clash. Adient PPC had a bye.

Motherwell RFC earn victory over Kwaru RFC

Motherwell RFC defeated Kwaru RFC 21–16 during their EPRU Score Grand Challenge Middle 12 Teams Competition match at Motherwell NU1 Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors made their intentions clear from the outset as their scrumhalf, Luzuko Gule, managed to put his side 3–0 ahead from a penalty in the 8th minute. Motherwell came back strong, with their second centre, Sithembele Yako, kicking a penalty to balance the score 3–3 in the 19th minute. As the first half was about to end, Gule increased Kwaru’s lead to 6–3 from a penalty in the 34th minute.

Flyhalf Kwaru Sipho Febana was like a hot knife through butter, slipping between Motherwell players before a long pass to left wing, Lonwabo Rawana, who scored a quick try just within the 42nd minute. Gule collected two points from the conversion for Kwaru to lead 13–3.

Motherwell RFC replied with a quick penalty in the 45th minute, which was kicked over the poles by Yako, with the home side’s deficit becoming 13–6.

Motherwell came up strongly and was rewarded with a penalty taken successfully by Yako. The scoreline was 13–9, but Kwaru was also awarded a penalty, kicked over by Gule in the 69th minute, with the visitors leading 16–9.

Motherwell’s long-awaited try came courtesy of Athenkosi Mayinje under the poles in the 71st minute, and Yako converted the try to level the score 16–16.

The last try of the game, that helped Motherwell claim a hard-fought 21–16 victory, was scored by flanker, Bonani Mrawana, in the last three minutes of the game.

Teams register back-to-back wins in ZWIFA Premier League

FANS saw some sides register back-to-back wins during the Zwide Football Association (ZWIFA) Premier League games at Zwide Celtics and Shining Stars grounds the weekend.

Kuyasa United Brothers, called Gerber by their supporters, thwarted Sophakama FC 4–0 at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday. Gerber registered an easy 6–1 victory to the unpredictable Gal City at Zwide Celtics Ground on Sunday.

Amadamara FC claimed an easy 6–1 triumph over a struggling Everton FC at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday.

Amadamara FC gained another easy 4–0 victory over Young Brothers at Zwide Celtics Grounds on Sunday.

Khipu Major Chiefs Sports Club collected three league points in their hard 1–0 win over Young Brothers at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday.

Umanyano Stars defeated Alaska City 2–1 at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday, while Mwalimu All Stars edged out Duka Cosmos 4–1 at Zwide Celtics Grounds on Sunday.

Morning Stars saw themselves embarrassed 8–1 by Zwide Pirates at Shining Stars Ground on Saturday. Real Crusaders thumped Gal City 6–1 during their match at Shining Stars Grounds on Saturday.

Volcano Ladies overcome Golden Stars Ladies’ Football Development

Volcano Ladies managed to overcome Golden Stars Ladies’ Football Development 2–0 during their Sasol League Coastal Stream clash at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Saturday.

Volcano’s Zezethu Ntinga scored the opening goal at the stroke of the first half, with Stars’ goalkeeper, Roschni Fleur, well beaten.

Volcano goalkeeper, Sinovuyo Tyhulu, was on top of her game, denying the visitor’s strikers scoring opportunities. Volcano striker, Ogcobo Rala, failed to capitalise on mistakes made by Stars defence. The first half ended with 1–0 with the home side in the lead.

With just five minutes left, Ntinga laid a perfect pass to Rala, who scored a top notch goal that helped Volcano to claim a hard-fought 2–0 win.
