MSE FC defeat Young Ideas FC

MOTHERWELL School of Excellence FC came from behind to claim a hard-fought 3–2 win over Young Ideas FC during their Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) Premier League clash that took place at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday.

Ideas looked as if that they would win the game as they piled more pressure on MSE FC. Ideas were the first side of the two to score an early goal, courtesy of Siyabonga Mtwapi in the first half.

MSE FC quickly cancelled the joy of their counterparts as Abenam Poro scored an equaliser, also in the first half. The half-time score was 1–1, with Ideas having a lion’s share of the ball possession.

The supporters of Ideas thought that their side would bang in their second goal, but MSE FC goalkeeper Sive Gqukani, who was kept busy, pulled some brilliant saves. Seasoned MSE FC striker Bulelani Gubevu came up with the second goal of his side, after unleashing a hotshot that beat Ideas’ goalkeeper Athenkosi Matches.

Gubevu, who was on top of his game, beat two defenders of Ideas and he just tapped the ball between the legs of Matches, crossing the goal line to increase MSE FC lead to 3–1. NEW Brighton side Kwaza United Brothers (KUBS) Ladies’ FC secured an away 2–0 victory over Shining Stars Ladies’ FC during their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Women’s Regional League game at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday.

The home promised to score as they took the game to the visitors, but their strikers squandered many goal-scoring opportunities. Siyamthanda Nqam and Inathi Tom played their hearts out so that their side should register an opening goal. KUBS silenced the home side supporters’ noise after their mid-fielder, Lathitha Manqongoza, scored a world class goal from the distance that separated the two sides. The first half ended 1–0, with the visiting side leading.

The home side came up strongly as they searched for an equaliser, but they have themselves to blame as their strikers were not composed in front of the goals.

KUBS defenders were disciplined, as they did not concede needless mistakes in their line of defence. Manqongoza nearly scored her second goal but her shot went wide, with the Stars’ goalkeeper well-beaten.

Nqam tried her best to score her side’s goal, but she kicked straight to the hands of the KUBS goalkeeper who collected the ball comfortably. KUBS midfielder, Elam Tuse, scored the last goal of the game to increase her side’s lead to 2–0 in the last minutes of the game.
