Fans brave scorching weather for PEEFA Easter tournament

DESPITE the scorching weather conditions, droves of fans arrived to watch the Port Elizabeth East Football Association (PEEFA) Easter Tournament quarter-finals that took place at Veeplaas Turf Stadium on Sunday.

Forresters were ruthless on the field, handing Power Stars a 4–0 defeat during a one-sided game. Peace Lovers were pound-for-pound the best side as they took Young Bucks Masters to the cleaners, after thrashing them 5–0 without reply.

In a game that looked a catfight, United Brothers’ supporters saw their side kiss the tournament title goodbye after losing 4–2 on penalties to Real Lions, following a goalless full-time score.

Real Aces, a team struggling to prosper in the PEEFA Premier League, proved critics wrong when they eliminated the gutsy Mighty Warriors 4–2 on penalties, as their match ended in a 2–2 draw.

The PEEFA Easter Tournament 2024 winners will see the team pocket prize money of R4 000, gold medals, and a floating trophy. The runners-up will get a consolation prize of R2 000, plus silver medals. The tea that loses in the semi-finals will not go home empty-handed, receiving R750 each.

In the first semi-final, Real Aces face Peace Lovers, and in the last Real Lions play against Forresters FC.

Kuyga Football Association host Easter 2024 Edition

FANS came from Greenbushes and surrounding areas to watch the Kuyga Football Association Easter Tournament 2024 Edition at Kuyga Fields.

The teams were divided into two groups, starting the tournament with a round robin format and ending in a knockout.

In group A, M Chiefs drew 0–0 with Rocklands United while Mighty Bayern shared a goalless draw with Young Ideas at Kuyga Fields on Friday.

On Saturday, All Stars defeated Mighty Bayern 1–0, with M Chiefs beating Young Ideas 2–0. All Stars then continued with their winning ways as they edged out M Chiefs 2–1. Young Ideas played to a 2–2 draw against Rocklands United.

On Sunday, still in Group A, Rocklands United drew 3–3 with All Stars while Bayern, who were punished by Rocklands United 3–0, beat M Chiefs 2–1. Ideas beat All Stars 3–2 in a nail-biting game.

MOFA Easter Tournament quarterfinals

IT is not clear who will take the honours during the Motherwell Football Association Easter Tournament finals, as sides played their hearts out during the quarter-final that took place at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium and Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Sunday.

In the first quarter-final, at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium, fans saw Valencia defeat the much-improved Bisho Stars 1–0 thanks to a goal scored by Sive Dyasi in the dying minutes of the game.

Bay Eagles, who were optimistic they would win the tournament following their 2–1 victory over their neighbours, Seven Sundowns Sports Club in the last 16 eliminations, went home weeping when Tomorrow Stars knocked them out 2–0 during a tough game at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium.

Goals by Nceba Sizani and Thando Nkume helped Stars book themselves a berth in the semi-finals.

It was crunch time when Shining Stars defeated Black Vultures 2–1 on penalties, as their game ended in a 2–2 draw at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium.

Motherwell Academy, who are the hot favourites, were ruthless as they took Village Masters to the cleaners, after handing them a 5–0 defeat in a one-way traffic game at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium.

The MOFA Easter Tournament 2024 champions will walk away with R16 000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The runners-up will settle for R8 000 plus silver medals and the losing semi-finalists will receive R3 000 each.

Walmer Football Association Easter 2024 quarter-final matches

FANS were treated to exciting matches during the Walmer Football Association (WAFA) Easter 2024 quarter-finals at Walmer Wallabies RFC grounds on Sunday.

The high-riding Real Madrid eliminated Eleven Experience FC 5–3 on penalties, after their match ended in a goalless draw.

Golden Heroes had a tough assignment when they faced Ghetto Stars, but Heroes won thematch 5–4 on penalties, as their game ended in 0–0 draw.

Young Cosmos dug deep to overcome Hummers FC 3–2 during a match that produced thrills and spills.

It was a do-or-die situation when Walmer Stars booked themselves a berth in the semi-finals following their hard-earned 5–4 win on penalties over the tough Morning Stars, after their match ended in a goalless draw.

The winning side will scoop the first prize of R10 000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The runners-up will go home with R5 000 and silver medals. The third place team in the play-offs will pocket a sum of R3 000, plus the bronze medals.
