For one of their annual charity drives, ACD All Car Care Centre in Gqeberha recently decided to focus on giving a helping hand to a few local furry friends.

Uitenhage SPCA became their focus point after the damage wrought by recent floods in the Kariega area.

They handed over blankets and dog food to Uitenhage SPCA, with the help of animal activist and volunteer, Marizanne Kemp Ferreira.

They are determined that this is not their final say on the matter.

ACD All Car Care Centre in Uitenhage Road is challenging other workshops in the area to donate to Uitenhage SPCA as well.

“People don’t always realise how great the need is,” said Ferreira. “The blankets can be washed and used again and might last a while, but we could always use them. To wash them, we need detergent, and we need cleaning supplies to clean the enclosures, and of course the animals need to eat every day.

“Sometimes a dog gets so attached to their blanket that they will take it with them when they get adopted.”

Any donations of dog food, blankets, and cleaning supplies are welcome and will make a difference.

Drop-off points are at ACD All Car Care Centre at 13 Uitenhage Road, Sydenham, and at Walmer Veterinary Hospital at 106 Main Road, Walmer. Ensure donations are marked for Uitenhage SPCA.

This charity drive will continue until July 31.
