Latest forecasted maximum temperatures over the Ea

Latest forecasted maximum temperatures over the Eastern Cape for 13 March 2021.

Brace yourself – tomorrow is going to be very hot day!

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has sent out a warning for extremely hot conditions that are expected in places over the western and
central parts of the Eastern Cape on Saturday, 13 March.

“A cold front approaches the country from
the west, with a surface trough extending through the Eastern Cape, causing dry
north westerly winds blowing off from the interior, resulting in very hot to
extremely hot conditions across the Eastern Cape,” SAWS said in a statement.

“Areas in the west are of
particular interest as the expected daytime-temperatures are expected to range
between the late 30’s and low 40’s. This will pose a risk as people and animals
can get heat exhaustion, heatstroke, bloody nose, faintness and dehydration. The general public over the foreamentioned areas are
advised to avoid strenuous outside work, as well as drink plenty of water.”

SAWS further said that these dry, hot and slightly windy
conditions are expected
to enhance the risk of runaway fires, thus open fires are prohibited. “A slight
chance of heat-induced thunderstorms is expected in places over the interior in
the afternoon.”
