The 32-year-old man arrested yesterday, August 2 for the murder of Taslin Lucas ,8, was released pending further investigation, but will remain in custody for a housebreaking and theft case that took place in September 2022, in Walmer.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, DNA was taken from him and will be sent to forensics for analysis.
She said, however, he was detained on a warrant of arrest which was issued for him on a housebreaking and theft case which took place in Walmer in September 2022.
“He is remanded in custody until Thursday, August 10, for a formal bail application,” said Naidu.
The murder investigation is continuing.
