Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport last week announced the donation of two display vintage aircraft to the South African Air Force (SAAF) Museum in Gqeberha.
According to airport manager, Claudia Daniels, the two vintage aircraft had been donated to the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) a few years ago.
“The two aircraft, an Impala Jet Aircraft and Piaggio P166s have been a great attraction not only to aircraft enthusiasts but also to our airport users,” Daniels said.
“The SAAF Museum is only too grateful to receive these aircraft to add to our already impressive list of airframes. We will do our best to see them restored to their former glory.”
Daniels further said that the donation of these ex-SAAF aircraft to the museum adds to the already rich history of the Air Force Museum.
“The public will be able to enjoy viewing these remarkable artefacts alongside many other displays at the SAAF museum in the very near future.”
