Vigilant Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Police officers arrested one suspect during the early hours of this morning, 29 June after he was caught in possession of suspected stolen
property in a Suzuki Swift he was driving.
The arrest took place on the N2 near Bluewater Bay around 04:00 as the officers
were diverting traffic close to the N2 and Bluewater Bay off ramp following a collision
involving trucks.
As the Metro Police members were diverting traffic, a white Suzuki Swift approached
at high speed and the officers stopped it.
“Initially the driver of the vehicle did not want to stop. The officers questioned why he
did not stop the vehicle at their signal. Just when the vehicle had stopped, three
males jumped out of the vehicle and ran away. The officers gave chase but
managed to apprehend the driver of the vehicle,” said NMBM Acting Metro Police
Commissioner, Andrew Moses.
He added that upon searching the vehicle massive heavy technical equipment,
written “Vodacom” was discovered in the vehicle.
“It was four heavy machines, one tower battery, heavy duty angle grinder, hammers
and other equipment used to forcefully break open properties.
“We commend the
great work done by our members and we wish to thank them for doing an excellent
job in fighting crime,” said Moses.
Metro Police members arrested the driver for possession of suspected stolen
property, and he was detained at Swartkops SAPS.
