Van der Kemp Primary School, situated in the heart of Salt Lake, Gqeberha, has reached out to the community for support.

As a cornerstone of education in the neighbourhood of Salt Lake, the school currently accommodates 700 learners and 20 dedicated teachers, providing a dual-medium education from Grade R to 7.

The school prides itself on being a no-fee, feeding scheme institution, extending its care beyond educational needs to support children both within the immediate vicinity and those from neighbouring areas. This community-oriented approach, however, relies heavily on the contributions and goodwill of the public.

In a heartfelt plea, the school recently detailed a list of essential items needed to maintain its functionality and continue providing quality education. The list includes basic educational supplies such as pencils, pens, rubbers, rulers, and scissors.

Additionally, the school requires laminating sheets, A4 paper, and pencil crayons or crayons to enhance the learning experience. An urgent appeal has also been made for school shoes, which can be purchased at Spar for a special rate of R70.

Tuskeen Salie, a representative of the school, encouraged those willing to assist to reach out via phone at 0710074763.

The school’s call for help highlights the collective effort needed to support the educational journey of its learners and further the school’s mission to nurture future leaders.

As the community comes together, Van der Kemp Primary School hopes to continue providing a supportive and enriching environment for its students, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive regardless of their economic background.
