According to police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that on Sunday, August 20, at about 07:00, Edwin De Vos (45) and his son Leonardo De Vos (19), who were mechanics, were last seen leaving their house with a woman whose vehicle they had previously repaired.
Naidu said that on Tuesday, August 22, Edwin’s wife went to SAPS Gelvandale to report them missing.
“While she was still at the police station, police received information of two bodies that were found on the dirt road in the Swartkops policing area.
“It was confirmed that the bodies found were that of the missing father and son. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds,” said Naidu.
Naidu added, “Investigations led the detective team to a house in Missionvale, and at about 18:35, a 62-year-old tavern owner (woman) and a 43-year-old man were arrested.”
“A licensed firearm belonging to the woman and a Hyundai Atos were confiscated.”
The suspects are detained on charges of kidnapping and two counts of murder.
They are expected to appear in court soon.
