Two Seven Sundowns Sports Club players are in need of financial assistance to play in the Gothia Youth Tournament taking place in Sweden, from July 16 to 22.

Sundowns skipper Indiphile Fana and right winger Milani Katoo were selected during the Pro Skills Professional Soccer Coaching trials held at Adcock Stadium in Korsten in December 2022.

Each player is required to pay R32 500 in order to be able to fly to Sweden.

However, it seems a mammoth task to each player, as their parents could not afford to pay the amount of money that is needed for the trip.

Zoleka Fana informed PE Express that she was worried her 17-year-old son Indiphile could not participate in the Gothia Cup in 2021 because she could not afford to pay R30 000 for the trip.

“I was very devastated because I tried to get the money. It was in vain. This time around, I told myself that I would make means for Indiphile to get this money,” said Fana.

“I have written many letters to many people for my son to get some financial assistance but it is still in vain. In July 2019, my son was part of the team that participated in the Dana Youth Cup in Denmark. I humbly appeal to anyone who can assist my son financially, so that he could be part of the team.”

Mandisa Katoo, who is the mother of the 18-year-old Milani Katoo, is also in the same situation as Fana regarding securing funds for her son.

“My son missed this opportunity of playing in the Gothia Cup last year because I did not have money all for his trip to Sweden,” said Katoo.

“I am employed as a contract worker and I do not work for the whole week. It is very difficult for me to pay R32 500, but I would like my son to play in the tournament. I will be very happy if anyone could help my son with the airfare.”
