Two Checkers Sixty60 scooters had a very bad Monday in Nelson Mandela Bay yesterday, 11 August, turning afternoon grocery runs into afternoon drama for observant motorists.
A quick check of Port Elizabeth Traffic Updates’ Facebook page revealed the first scooter on fire. The post stated that a bike was on fire on William Moffett opposite Audi in the direction of Walmer.
Meanwhile, reports emerged of a second incident in Kariega opposite Corkwood Square Mall, where a Checkers Sixty60 delivery scooter caught fire after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident.
In other traffic-related incidents in the Metro today, the burning of tyres on the R75 Ziyabuya has halted. Rioters had also been throwing rocks at motorists during the incident.
