EDUCATOR Dorothy (Dot) Johnson has retired from Triomf Primary School after having taught for 46 years.

She started her teaching career in 1972 at Machiu Primary School, where she taught for nine years.

Johnson was transferred to Triomf Primary School where she taught for 37 years.

She was involved in a learnership course in Washington DC in the United States of America.

“With much fundraising and with the help of parents, I accompanied learners in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. It gave these learners an opportunity to meet children from all over the world,” Johnson said.

She was also actively involved in library projects as well as spelling competitions.

Three of her learners recently entered into the Grow Smart Spelling Competition where they won the first prize in the Eastern Cape.

After years of dedication she said her final farewell to the learners and staff at Triomf on October 31.
Johnson plans on enjoying her retirement to the full and intends visiting the Victoria Falls in Zambia and some other African countries with her husband soon.
