Thumika shines in dance examination

Thumika Candasamy performed her Arangetram (maiden performance) at the KGM Hall in Malabar on February 10. The former head girl at St Mark’s Community School matriculated last year, and is enrolled for a Bachelor of Law degree at Nelson Mandela University. Candasamy graduated from the Geetanjali Academy of Arts in Malabar after completing a strenuous three-hour examination. Established in 1987, the school focuses on the classical South Indian style of Bharata Natyum in which the dancer becomes a storyteller using hand gestures and facial expressions to relate stories of the deities they are portraying.
