Three bodies were found in Nelson Mandela Bay at the weekend. Police are appealing to the community to help them identify the victims.

According to police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, in the
first incident yesterday morning, the body of a coloured male, approximately 43
years old, was found behind an embankment in Mangold Street, Newton Park.  “A patrolling security officer noticed the
deceased male on the ground and upon inspection, found him to be unresponsive,”
Naidu said.

An inquest docket has been opened and the investigating
officer, D/W/O Deon Hanekom, can be contacted on 041 394 6573 or 082 442 1305
if anyone has information on the identity or next of kin of the victim.

On the same day, at approximately 15:30, a group of children
were playing on a path between Wells Estate and Amsterdamhoek Drive in Swartkops
when they discovered the body of a black male lying on his back. He is
estimated to be around 65 years old. An inquest docket was opened and the
investigating officer, D/Sgt Lundi Nikelo from the Swartkops police station can
be contacted on 082 442 1683.

Another body was found this morning under a tree on the
corner of Stanford Road and September Street, Gelvandale at approximately 07:00.
The body is that of a black male and is partially decomposed.  “According to residents in the area, the
deceased is a vagrant and well known in the area as many of them used to feed
him from time to time. He is between the ages of 45 and 60 years old,” Naidu
explained.  An inquest docket was opened
by Gelvandale detectives and D/W/O Iwela Marashula can be contacted on 082 442
1633.

“In all these deaths, police are appealing to anyone who can
assist in the identification of the victims. Anyone who knows of a person that
may have been missing for a period of time, should contact the respective
investigating officers.”
