THE Walmer Community Soccer Grounds were abuzz when the Walmer Mini Soccer Tournament began over the Easter weekend.
According to one of the organisers, Lungisa Fina, 10 teams joined forces to host the tournament, with the aim of fighting crime.
Fina said the teams were hungry to play after not taking to the field for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Real Madrid FC advanced to the semi-finals after they overcame Mighty Eagles 5-3 on penalties following their 1–1 full-time score.
Despite their 1-0 loss to Ghetto Stars, Golden Heroes showed that they were a force to be reckoned with. Mabayibone Strikers booked themselves a place in the semi-finals after they defeated Manija FC 2-1 in their quarter-final.
Manchester United were scheduled to play against Morning Stars, but their game could not proceed, as it was too dark.
