Three killed after a vehicle lost control and overturned on N9 near Graaff Reinet

Three people have died in a crash on the N9 in Aberdeen towards Graaff Reinet earlier today, November 11.

Provincial transport department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said that one of the vehicles with 15 occupants lost control and overturned.

“Three occupants died instantly while others sustained critical injuries and were taken to hospital,” said Binqose.

He appealed to motorists to be cautious, especially during this festive season.

“It is one of those accidents that we feel could have been avoided if one of the drivers had been a bit more cautious. The MEC for transport in the Eastern Cape Xolile Nqatha is calling on all road users, motorists in particular to be extra vigilant.”

A case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation.
