LOCAL theatre enthusiasts will soon be in for a treat when The Savoy Theatre brings The Snow Goose, an adaption of Paul Gallico’s classic novella, to their stage this February.
The Snow Goose played out on the desolate Essex marshes and was set against the background of the miracle of Dunkirk.
A wounded snow goose brings a young girl, Fritha, and the recluse Philip Rhayader together in a moving story of friendship and courage.
The story is told with colourful characters in theatre masks, a dramatic soundscape and simple props to propel the audience into the heart of the story.
The show has been recognised by the leading theatre awards organisations in both Cape Town and Johannesburg and has received five prestigious awards. Produced by Contagious Theatre, the 70-minute production brings together the talents of three critically acclaimed theatre makers, Jenine Collocott, James Cairn and Taryn Bennett.
The Snow Goose can be seen at The Savoy Theatre on Friday, February 9 at 19:00, Saturday, February 10 at 15:00 and Sunday, February 11 at 10:00.
Tickets are R120 per person and R90 for children between the ages of three and 18, as well as pensioners.
