A teenage girl was shot dead in KwaZakhele on Sunday evening, only a few hours after a mass shooting claimed the lives of seven people and injured four in the same area.
Police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, said that 15-year-old Inako Magidiwana, who was a grade 9 learner at Alexander Road High School, was shot and killed at approximately 21:00 in Mandleni street.
She was on her way home from the shop when a black car pulled up next to her. According to Beetge, police suspect that they spoke to her and pointed a firearm at her.
“She was shot in the back and died at the scene. No arrests have yet been made,” Beetge said.
A case of murder is being investigated.
Beetge said that at this stage, police cannot say whether the incident was linked to the mass shooting earlier that evening. “We are, however, looking in all directions,” he said.
