WALMER – Following the brutal murder of a four-year-old boy in Walmer on Sunday, 22 March, an 18-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.
The suspect, a foreign national, is expected to face a charge of murder.
According to reports, at approximately 01:45, SAPS members responded to reports of a murder at a residence in Tshanga Street, Walmer Location.
Upon arrival, the first responder discovered the body of a four-year-old foreign national boy lying in a pool of blood inside the house.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the child was sleeping in a separate room with his older brother. The parents reportedly became concerned, went to check and found him covered in blood. They immediately contacted the police for assistance.
While on the scene, an 18-year-old teenager was arrested for the murder. The motive for the incident is currently unknown and forms part of ongoing investigations.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court in the coming week.
